Gabrielle Clark rents a cottage on Lake Lacoma in upstate New York only to discover that a mad professor has built a castle in the nearby forest.
Swarthy and wild, the professor is the antithesis of the scholarly, neighborly fisherman. Gabrielle receives more than she bargains for as she becomes embroiled in a romantic adventure on the shores of a lake feared by the Seneca Indians.
